Oh boy! It’s only Wednesday and I already need all the energy I can get!

I am not a fan of all the legal mumbo jumbo that comes with setting up and running a business. There are so many pieces that I just don’t seem to grasp and even more pieces I didn’t even know existed when it comes to the legal side of things.

I’ve been on updating contracts this week to properly protect myself and my clients as I pursue my photography dream. So far I have read a lot of blogs, example documents, and people’s thoughts on what is necessary for proper contract etiquette. Wading through everything lead me to determine two things that are needed when putting contracts together:

1) A professional opinion ( aka talk to a lawyer )
2) An open perspective because contracts are negotiable.

I’ve learned a lot in three days and I still have more learning to do. When I comes down to it, these hard to tackle parts of business are necessary and when you look to hire your photographer make sure they understand these things as it’s all too easy to just copy and paste an online template that doesn’t really provide you as the client with much wiggle room.
